Which Animals can be Harmful to Your Roof?

As you probably already know, animals can cause damage to our houses. Depending on the animal, the degree of harm done to the house may vary. Some small animals may not even leave any damage behind.

However, many animals definitely can be harmful to the structure of your house, even tiny critters like mice and squirrels.

So, what should you do if you think you may have an animal living inside your roof or damaging your house?

First of all, let’s look at which animals are the most likely to cause damage to your house. These include, but are not limited to:

  1. Raccoons
  2. Bats
  3. Squirrels
  4. Rats
  5. Mice
  6. Birds
  7. Groundhogs

The list above looks at many culprits of roofing damage, but that doesn’t mean that other animals are exempt from doing the same. The list presented here is simply the most common animals that you may be dealing with. Common animals will also vary based on where you live, so make sure to take this factor into account as well.

So, what should you do if you suspect, or know, that you are dealing with trouble from an uninvited animal?

You might try purchasing and using an animal repellent. You can also make sure your trees are properly managed so that the branches are not allowing little critters to easily get up on your roof.

You should also definitely reach out to either an exterminator or, even better, your local roofing company.

Getting ahead of any problem is important when it comes to your house. This allows you to properly deal with the trouble and prevent it from getting any worse. You can also always call us with any questions you have and we would be more than happy to answer them!
