Preparing Your Roof for the Summer

As spring is nearing its end, we begin to prepare for the summer season. So, what is the best way to get your house ready for the summer? Are there certain things you can do to prepare your roof? Read on to learn more!

First things first, a roof inspection is always helpful in between seasons. In April and May, we tend to experience more storms and rain. By June, it is a good idea to double check that there is no lasting damage done to your roof. If you have experience climbing up on your roof, you may be able to check things out yourself. However, if you do not have any experience doing this, we do not recommend trying this. Taking note of any bent or broken shingles and/or leaks can help to prevent major damage in the future.

In addition, check your gutters! As flowers fall off of trees and land on your roof, they might get caught in your gutters, clogging them. This can lead to water getting trapped and causing leaks. It is also important to check around the chimney to make sure that everything is in place and there is no damage near it.

In addition, if you have any work that needs to be done to your roof, we suggest having it done before it gets super hot out. When the temperature reaches more than ninety degrees, it is too hot for roofing. Having work done before the heat kicks in is always a good choice.

If you are unable to easily inspect your roof, do not attempt to. Call a professional if you are ever unsure. Your safety is what is most important, and most roofing companies will offer a free inspection. As always, we are happy to help and answer any questions you have.
