These moldy spots can look powdery, fuzzy, slimy, or just like stains, and they often continue to spread over time. 

Scent is another indicator. The smell of mold varies and might be musty, earthy, or a general damp scent. If these smells continue, especially after airing out a room, this is a pretty big sign that there is mold present and deserves more attention.

Another huge sign of mold is how you are feeling. If you are continuously sneezing, coughing, feeling short of breath, experiencing nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes, headaches, skin irritation, or worsening asthma symptoms, there is a good possibility of mold being present. This is especially true if you have been to the doctor and cannot pinpoint where these symptoms are coming from, or if they worsen when at home.
