It is Spring and the weather is finally warming up. With the change in temperature, there is less of a need for using your heater and your fireplace. If you have been using your fireplace all winter, it is definitely essential to have an inspection and a cleaning.
Why is it so important to clean your fireplace?
As you continuously use your fireplace, you can have a buildup of something called creosote. This comes from the smoke burning inside of your fireplace, and it creates a substance that can be incredibly dangerous. The reason that creosote is so hazardous is because it is actually flammable. As you can imagine, you do not want anything flammable around a fire. If this buildup of creosote were to catch fire, it could quickly spread, causing disastrous results to your home.
Why is now a great time for having your fireplace cleaned and inspected?
Now that the cold weather has eased away, and you will not be using your fireplace much, it is the perfect time to have it both inspected and cleaned. You should call a professional to come and take a look at your fireplace to remove any creosote and substances that have built up within it. This will prepare you for the following year when cold weather comes around.
The good news is that you will most likely not be using your fireplace for a bit, so getting it cleaned now allows you to avoid next winter when everybody is rushing to get theirs cleaned. You will then not have to worry about it when you actually want to use your fireplace.
