What are the main Differences Between Commercial and Residential Roofs?

Did you know that in addition to providing residential roofing, we also offer commercial roofing?

Commercial roofing is necessary for our society to have stable buildings for the work day. However, commercial roofs vary quite a bit of the roofs you will see on residential homes.

So, what are the main differences between the two?

We will answer this question in this blog so that you can understand how commercial roofs differ from residential ones. Read on to learn more!

The main differences between commercial and residential roofs:

  • Commercial roofs are often shaped differently from residential roofs. Commercial roofs are often typically flat while residential roofs will usually have a sloped or arched shape. If a commercial roof were to have any type of slope in it, it would be a very small one, and this is not super common.
  • Residential roofs are much faster to construct. Since residential roofs are typically much smaller with much less area to cover, they come together in a much shorter period of time.
  • Commercial roofs often use a different material than residential roofs. For commercial and industrial roofing, we offer EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), which is a rubberized roofing membrane, and TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin), which is a vinyl roofing membrane. For residential roofs, we offer asphalt shingles and metal roofing.
