If you have been following us on social media, then you more than likely know about our Sponsor a Veteran Campaign.
Originally, our CEO Carnie Fryfogle III read an article about the rise in numbers of calls to suicide hotlines from veterans. Always wanting to help in any way he can, Carnie decided to offer two free roofs to deserving veterans.
We asked for people to send in their nominations and to tell them who deserved to win and why. We were amazed with the many names and stories that were shared with us, and we were tasked with a very difficult decision.
Then, we saw one individual who really caught our eye.
Born in 1921, Paul is now one hundred years old– that’s right: one hundred years old— and a member of the US Navy. Paul is a veteran who enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and fought in World War II until he was injured when his ship was hit. As a result, he was discharged. In 1947, he bought a home with his wife. They raised their sons in that home, and he still lives in that same house today. This is the house we will be redoing the roof for.
Paul is an all-around amazing person! His granddaughter nominated him for our campaign, and his story truly inspired us!
The second that we learned about Paul, we knew he would be receiving a free Certainteed Roofing System from us.
