Signs That it’s Time to Replace Your Siding

Is it time to replace your siding? Many homeowners do not necessarily know what to look for when considering redoing their siding. This is how problems can arise and go unnoticed. Siding can last a pretty long time, and because of this, sometimes people just forget to keep in mind that there is a possibility it might need to be replaced.

Let’s take a look at some of the most common signs that it is time for new siding:

  • Cracks or breaks in the siding- This is a major sign that your siding needs replacing. If you see any kinds of cracking or splits appearing, it is probably time to have your siding redone. These can be signs of aging or reactions to weather over time.
  • Peeling siding- If you notice your siding beginning to peel or warp, or the paint chipping away from it, this might be a sign that your siding has worn down. This is usually due to the changing weather over the years and is a sign of caging. If your siding is pretty faded but does not hold paint well, it is probably time to look into replacements.
  • Raised energy bill- A higher energy bill can represent a variety of different issues. If you notice a raised energy bill, it is good to call for a professional to come and do an inspection. As siding ages, it can lose its ability to properly keep the heat or cold from permeating your house.
  • Damage to the interior of your home- If you begin to notice damage inside of your home, siding might be the culprit. Again, this can be a result of many issues, but if it is caused by siding, it means the weather is not being kept out of your home, and the siding is not doing its job. This is a major sign that it is time for new siding.
