Winter is almost here, and so many are now preparing for the cold season. From decorating their houses to getting their fireplaces inspected for safety, people are doing all they need to before the snowy weather begins to arrive.
One thing that a lot of homeowners often forget to do, however, is to check the trees surrounding their homes. Now that a lot of the leaves have fallen off of trees, it makes it even easier to get a proper look at the branches and to make any adjustments that need to be made for safety.
So, why is it so important to inspect your trees?
Let’s say that you have a large tree out front of your home. Even if this tree is very healthy and sturdy, that does not mean the branches are. If you have large branches hanging over your home, these can cause lots of issues. If a long branch were to scratch against the roof of your home, it might damage the shutters. If branches are hanging directly over your gutters, as the leaves fall, they can actually clog your gutters, making it possible for your roof to have ice dams and leaks. This is something you will definitely want to prevent.
Since the snowy season is almost upon us, you will also want to consider how heavy those branches might become when covered in snow. Could those branches snap? If they did, and landed on your home, could that cause major damage? How big are the branches normally without being covered in snow?
You can see why it is so important to keep an eye on the trees around your home in order to properly keep your house safe and secure. If you happen to find branches or trees that could cause you damage, it is good to call in a professional tree-cutter to help you out. If you are able to safely cut the branches yourselves (only if you have experience doing so) you can also do that.
Just be safe and have a wonderful winter, and as always, we can answer any questions you have.
Happy Holidays!
